The New Canadian Dream: Cashflow, Not a Cubicle

Are you a “time billionaire”?

A billion seconds sounds like forever, right? Nope. It’s just 31 years.

Your life’s ticking away while you’re stuck in Zoom calls or chasing a paycheck.

I used to think the Canadian Dream was a stable job, a house with a white picket fence, and a retirement plan on life support. Hollywood sold me well!

Then I got a wake-up call … ages ago. My contract with a public company got canned (again) – poof, my “secure” gig building a Gen Z app was gone.

I was slaving 60 hours a week, glued to my laptop, working in CalTrain. No time for a coffee without pinging Slack.

That wasn’t freedom. It was a $200k trap.

How about it’s time to stop talking about the ‘Canadian Dream’ and actually build it.

What’s the cost of the Canadian dream?

For the people saying moving to the US is the new Canadian Dream?

I’m finding solace with these 4 Freedoms

🚀 Time to live, not just work.
🌍 Location to explore, work from anywhere
💸 Money to choose, not chase.
💖 Health to thrive, not survive.

…my friend Travis suggested Family too.

And the key to unlock it? Ownership.

Here’s a shot of me with my parents in Carmel, enjoying a weekday morning at 10 AM – freedom feels real here.

Forget cubicles. The future is cash-flowing assets.

Blackstone, KKR, and The Carlyle Group own a staggering amount of real estate.

Meanwhile, giants like PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, and Nestlé dominate the beverage landscape.

The service industry seems to be supported by oligopolistic trends too. Look at Canadian telecom and banking.

Why not you and me own something like this?

Why not own a piece of the pie – your local bakery, a cleaning biz, or a plumbing company?

Fastest way to get ownership using your skills…

My friend Chris, the same dude who gave me the bad news, was a tech consultant. He noticed a local gym losing $15K a year due to poor scheduling. He offered to fix it, saving them $10K annually. In return, he took 20% of the savings ($2K a year) and 5% of the gym if they sold. They jumped at the offer. Now, Chris earns passive income while helping his community!

Your move:

  1. List what you’re great at (sales, ops, marketing).
  2. Find a local business with a problem you can solve.
  3. Offer your skills for a slice of their profits or equity.

Why it works: You’re not begging for a raise. You’re building wealth that pays you whether you work or not.

The Canadian Dream isn’t a 9-to-5 or a mortgage. It’s owning your time, your money, your life. Stop letting faceless corporations own everything. Take back your community, one deal at a time.
